Peskil

Peskil: hygiene and pest control, born in the food trade

Peskil is a hygienic disinfection and pest control business, registered on 19 May 2014 to serve hotels and restaurants, its About page says. Its website describes it as a sole proprietor business with a head office in Malé.

The About page says it set out to help local hotels and restaurants meet changing government safety and health rules for food processing and service areas.

Treatments in its own words

Its home page lists six services: hygienic disinfection, office mist treatment, cockroach treatment, café insect treatment, termite treatment and marine vessel treatment. The Services page spells ULV out as ultra low volume, and ranges from ULV work to localised treatment in low- to high-risk settings. A ULV machine turns a small amount of liquid into a very fine mist that drifts over exposed surfaces.

For termites, the home page describes monitoring activity and using bait stations, spot treatment or drilling around the perimeter. Marine vessels are always on the move, it notes, and it names tablets and bait stations as the most effective method for them.

Homes, vehicles, offices and clients

Its Services page takes bookings for four services: home disinfection and pest control, vehicle and machinery disinfection, commercial disinfection and cleaning, and scheduled hotel and café visits. Commercial jobs are described as deep cleaning with broad-spectrum disinfectants, and the vehicle service covers equipment too. Broad-spectrum means a product acts against many kinds of germs, not just one.

The home-service page names Malé, Hulhumalé and Villingili (Villimalé) as its areas. Its home page lists government clients such as the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority and the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources. The same list includes the Faculty of Health Sciences and a long run of cafés and restaurants. Its Local.mv listing files it under pest control and names hotels, cafés, vessels, homes and commercial premises among the places it serves.

Booking and opening hours

Each of the four services on its Services page has a Book Now button, and every page of its website that was read shows a Call Now button. Its website gives opening hours of nine in the morning to five in the afternoon, Saturday to Thursday. Its Facebook page goes by 'Peskil Maldives'.

Before you call any pest-control team

Peskil's home page singles out the small German cockroach, which it reports seeing in hotels, restaurants and households. What follows is general guidance for hiring pest control anywhere. Start by naming the pest and where you see it, such as cockroaches behind the fridge or termites in a door frame, and send a photo so the right treatment comes along.

Its café insect treatment is built around scheduled visits, which the home page links to keeping up cleanliness and health standards. Check whether one visit will do or a second round is planned, since eggs often hatch after the first treatment, and whether that return trip is in the quote.

The home page says ULV spraying reaches exposed surfaces, naming public toilets and public transport as examples. Ask what to do beforehand, for example emptying kitchen cupboards, covering food, washing bedding and moving furniture from the walls.

For offices, it presents ULV mist spraying as a way to disinfect without damaging electronics and paper products. Afterwards, find out how long children and pets need to stay away from treated rooms, when surfaces are safe to wipe, and the product name, written down.
