iMtech

Smart-home gadgets and electronics, delivered to the door

iMtech, which trades online as I.M Tech, sells phones, audio gear and smart-home gadgets from its website, with doorstep delivery in Male' and Hulhumale (Malé and Hulhumalé). Its About page describes it as a private limited company that specialises in electronic goods. The shop is based in Malé, and its PinkBazaar entry files it under CCTV installation in Male.

Connected kit for the home

Its home essentials range includes an Amazon Alexa Echo Spot smart display, Porodo smart door and motion sensors, and Govee LED strip lights. For keeping an eye on a room, it stocks the Anker Eufy indoor camera. For Wi-Fi, its site lists a Xiaomi router and several Xiaomi range extenders. A range extender picks up your Wi-Fi and sends it on to rooms the router cannot reach. A Xiaomi air purifier and replacement filters, a Xiaomi robot mop and Dyson vacuum cleaners sit in the same range.

Phones, sound and screens

Its phone range covers Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Honor, Vivo, Motorola and Infinix. Headphones and speakers come from brands such as JBL, Bose, Marshall, Sony, Beats and Harman Kardon. The menu also runs to tablets, laptops, smart watches, power banks, gaming and smart TVs. Site searches bring up a GoPro action camera with GoPro accessories, DJI drones and a Google TV streamer.

Ordering, delivery and returns

You can order online and collect, and the home page describes its stock as genuine products. For island customers it hands orders to boats and ferries, and it delivers to resort speedboats and supply boats. A call-for-delivery option suits buyers who are on the move during delivery times. Customers can chat by Viber or WhatsApp, call or email. According to its PinkBazaar entry, it opens at nine and closes at eleven at night from Saturday to Thursday, and trades from eight to eleven on Friday night.

Before you buy connected kit

Smart sensors and an Alexa display are part of its home range. What follows is general guidance for anyone buying smart-home or network gadgets, not a statement about iMtech. Check which app or hub controls each device, and whether lights and sensors carry on if the home broadband goes down.

Its delivery terms give buyers forty-eight hours to check a purchase for manufacturer defects, with the item kept in its original packaging. With a router or camera, ask if setting it up is part of the sale, and where you take it if a fault shows after that window.

Its camera range includes an indoor model from Anker Eufy. For any home camera, find out where clips are stored (memory card, home base or cloud), how long they stay, and who controls the account password. Aim it at your own rooms and doorway, and keep neighbours' windows out of frame.

Where these details come from
