GAGE

GAGE: security, fire safety and training from one Malé company

Founded on 21 July 2010, GAGE Pvt Ltd describes itself on its website as a protection, training and consultancy firm offering a client protective service. Its website footer names four arms: GAGE Security, GAGE Fire Safety, GAGE Training and GAGE Store. PinkBazaar, a business directory, lists GAGE Pvt Ltd for security services in Malé.

Resort, event and industrial security, CCTV and access control

Under security, its home page lists resort and industrial security, event security, CCTV and security systems, and outsourced CCTV monitoring. With outsourced monitoring, trained staff watch the camera feeds on the client's behalf.

Its About page adds security assessments, protection services, private investigation, access control with CCTV, and a cash-in-transit service. Access control swaps a plain key for a card, code or fingerprint reader at the door. Its GAGE Store listing on Local.mv, from 2022, files the store under CCTV and network accessories, door lock systems and fire safety equipment.

Fire safety, from design to maintenance

The fire safety arm offers consultancy, fire system design, help with fire system approvals, and extinguishers and other equipment. Its equipment runs from extinguishers, hose reels and hydrants to dry riser systems, kitchen hood fire suppression, and FM-200 and CO2 gas suppression systems. A dry riser is an empty pipe up the height of a building that firefighters connect their hoses to. A kitchen hood system releases a fire-stopping agent over the cooker when its heat sensors detect a fire.

The site says the team installs, tests and commissions these systems, then supports them through service and maintenance contracts. Commissioning means switching a new system on and proving that it works as designed. It also prepares fire emergency plans and advises clients on improving their fire safety over time.

Training courses and named clients

The training arm lists fire brigade training, lifeguard training, emergency first aid and security officer training. Its home page shows client logos, among them resorts such as Soneva, JW Marriott, Waldorf Astoria and OZEN, and companies such as FENAKA and Medianet.

Office hours and enquiries

Its contact page gives office hours of 9 am to 5 pm from Sunday to Thursday and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, with Friday closed. It takes enquiries by phone and email, and its PinkBazaar listing adds WhatsApp.

Questions for a lock, CCTV or fire equipment quote

Access control and CCTV sit side by side on its About page. These questions are general guidance for anyone buying security or fire equipment, not statements about GAGE. For a card or code lock, find out what the door does during a power cut, and once the lock's battery dies. Ask how a lost card or an old code is cancelled, and who keeps the master access.

Extinguishers and hose reels are on its equipment list. For fire equipment, ask how often each extinguisher and hose reel will be inspected, and whether a tag on each unit will show the date of its last check.

Outsourced CCTV monitoring is one of its security services. If others will watch your cameras, ask what they do when they spot something, whom they call, and who may view the recordings. Have every camera, reader and recorder listed by make and model, and ask for the equipment warranty and the installation cover in writing.
