PestEx Maldives Pvt. Ltd.

Pest management from Malé, with resorts at the core

PestEx Maldives Pvt. Ltd. is a pest-management company based in Malé, and its About page says it has more than twenty-five years of experience. The same page says it serves more than eighty per cent of Maldives resorts, along with hotels, healthcare facilities, government institutions, businesses and homes.

It describes itself as a specialist in Integrated Pest Management, or IPM. IPM joins inspection, prevention and targeted treatment, rather than relying on routine spraying alone.

The pests and treatments it names

Its services page lists general pest control for mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches and rodents in homes and businesses. A separate termite service is described as treatment to control termites and prevent damage to a property. The About page adds rodent management, mosquito and vector control, fumigation and public health pest management programmes. Vector control targets insects, such as mosquitoes, that can spread disease.

Its site description also names commercial fumigation, stored-product treatment and specialised pest management for resorts. Stored-product treatment protects goods such as rice and flour from insects while they sit in storage.

Certifications, memberships and the brands behind its work

Its About page says the company holds four ISO certifications, covering quality, environmental, food safety and occupational health and safety management. ISO standards are international rules for how an organisation runs such systems. The page also names membership of the National Pest Management Association and the Federation of Asian and Oceania Pest Managers' Associations. Its About page lists PestEx among the Gold 100 companies in the Maldives.

Envu, Ensystex and PelGar International appear on the About page among the manufacturers supporting its operations. PelGar's Asia Pacific website, in turn, carries a Maldives distributor page for PestEx.

Hygiene supplies, landscaping and an online shop

PestEx is also an authorised distributor of Orapi Hygiene, supplying housekeeping, laundry, kitchen hygiene and sanitation systems, its About page says. Its home page adds landscape design and consultancy for hotels and resorts, and agricultural products for crop health and soil management.

Its online eShop sorts pest-control products by target, from ants, bed bugs and cockroaches to flies, rodents, spiders, termites and mosquitoes. The shop also has categories for larvicides, and for mosquito, rodent and fly traps. A larvicide stops insects at the larva stage, before they become adults. Its Local.mv listing describes importing and distributing pest control products for domestic and corporate clients, and fumigating stored products.

Questions for a resort, office or household contract

Its website offers a service request form for pest control, termite control or landscaping, with a field for a company name. The points below are general advice for anyone hiring a pest-control firm. For a guest house, restaurant, office or boat, ask how many visits a year the contract covers, what each visit includes, and how call-outs in between are charged.

Each service on its services page carries a Request Quote button. Find out what method the technicians intend to use, such as traps, fumigation or a termite treatment, and why it suits your pest. Check the number of visits planned, and whether a return visit is covered by the price, since eggs can hatch after a first round.

For homes, its home page says trained technicians carry out every residential treatment and monitor it regularly. If pests return after treatment, ask what the re-treatment terms are, and keep them in writing.
