Maxcom Technologies: Dell EMC Titanium status in Malé

Maxcom Technologies says on its website that it holds Dell EMC Titanium status, with authorisation from Dell EMC to supply its enterprise portfolio. Its home page centres that enterprise work on servers, storage, networks and data centres. The same page speaks of over twenty years of experience delivering IT solutions for businesses. Maldives YP, a Maldives business directory, gives 2004 as its year of establishment.

On Local.mv, another directory, a listing published in November 2019 describes computer products and services for consumer and retail, small business, government, corporate and resort customers.

Enterprise systems, from networks to data-centre power

The home page lists hyper-converged infrastructure, where computing, storage and networking run together as one system. It also names wired and wireless networking, IT security, data-centre facilities with UPS (battery back-up that keeps equipment running in a power cut), and CCTV with access control.

The site carries an announcement by Vertiv, a maker of critical digital infrastructure, of a strategic tie-up with Maxcom Technologies. That work covers edge and modular data centres, compact ready-built server rooms placed near where data is used, with power, cooling and support.

Brands and service lines on its Local.mv listing

The Local.mv listing names Dell and Acer for both sales and service. It also names HP, D-Link, APC, Cisco, Samsung display solutions, Fargo, Gigabyte and Microsoft among the brands it carries. The listing adds fibre-optic LAN, WAN and wireless products, LAN and WAN being networks inside one site and between sites. It also names Aztel network equipment and fibre-optic products. PABX systems, an office's own phone exchange, appear there with point-of-sale systems and with security access control and surveillance.

Its service centre, the listing says, repairs and services computer systems, laptops and servers. The listing also offers storage area network design, a dedicated network linking servers to shared disk storage, plus IT consultancy and information-security audits.

Outlets, hours and contact

Its home page names outlets for enterprise solutions, consumer products and services. The website and its Maldives YP listing both place Maxcom in Malé. Its website gives opening hours in a morning and an evening session, six days a week, with Friday closed. The contact block invites calls and Viber messages.

Questions for a network, server or security quote

Wired and wireless networking is one of its named areas of expertise. The questions below are general guidance for network, server or security work; they make no claim about Maxcom Technologies. Ask for a site survey first, so the quote shows where each access point (the box that broadcasts Wi-Fi) will go and which rooms get a cable.

Servers, laptops and computer systems all go through its service centre, the listing says. Before any repair, have the data backed up, and ask for a written diagnosis before parts are ordered.

CCTV and access control sit among its expertise lines. For cameras, agree the placement on a floor plan, how many days the recorder keeps, and who holds the admin password.

Data-centre facilities and UPS are on the same list. For a server room, ask how long the UPS carries the load in a power cut and who services its batteries.

Its directory listing names a wide spread of brands. Request the brand and model of every switch, server or camera in the quote, with the maker's warranty and the installation warranty shown separately.
