Fedo

Building is Fedo's flagship

Fedo, the company FEDO Pvt Ltd, calls construction its flagship business, with work that runs from private homes to commercial spaces. Its home page describes a Maldivian company with interests in construction, property development and hospitality, based in Malé. The same page cites more than twelve years of experience on real estate and industrial projects.

Grown from small jobs

Its About page says it began in August 2010 as Fedo Investment, a local investment focused on small construction projects. Those jobs won repeat clients, the page says, and FEDO Private Limited was registered as a company in May 2011. Its Local.mv listing says a group of Maldivian entrepreneurs set it up to build both homes and commercial buildings. Since 2020, the About page adds, it has branched into hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, and distribution for international brands.

Residential blocks and finishing work

Its list of completed projects shows new multi-storey buildings on Hulhumalé plots, taken from the ground up to completion. The same list includes architectural finishes on upper floors and a terrace, and on a complete building in Hulhumalé. Architectural finishes are the layers you see and touch, such as plaster, tiles, paint, ceilings and doors. Structural works on a fish processing factory for Seaspire Maldives also appear.

In November 2021 its newsroom reported an agreement with the Hulhumalé Development Corporation to develop mixed-use flats in Hulhumalé Phase 1. In August 2022 it announced a contract to build a new block for Ahmadhiyya International School.

Homes it builds and looks after

The Rise, one of its own developments, is presented as urban living on the Hulhumalé waterfront. Its layouts run from two-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments, facing gardens or the ocean. A service request form on its website lets residents of the buildings it names report what needs attention, with their apartment number.

Resorts, hospitality and an award

Its expertise page also covers resort, institutional and commercial construction, the last built around the needs of a business. Its hospitality side includes Sofaire Hotels in Haa Alif, the Cerulean View retreat in Hanimaadhoo, and Savor by Fedo, a new leisure venue it is bringing to life in Hulhumalé. Its newsroom reports that Fedo received the Gold 100 award, a list published by Corporate Maldives, for a second year running in November 2021.

Commissioning a build: what to raise

Its Local.mv listing files it under architects as well as construction and renovation. Its website takes enquiries through a contact page, phone and email, and has a separate customer feedback page. What follows is general guidance for anyone planning a new build or a large renovation, not a description of Fedo. If the builder also draws the plans, ask whether the drawings sit inside the price, who owns them, and who applies for permits. Agree a stage-by-stage programme, a single site contact, and how extra work gets costed before it begins. Pay as each stage is finished, keeping a last instalment until the remaining small defects are put right. If you will stay in the home during the work, ask which rooms will be closed off, how dust is kept down, and when water or power will be off.
