E-Talk at a glance

E-Talk sells, installs, repairs and maintains security and network systems for homes, offices, restaurants and industrial premises. Its About page describes a privately owned security and IT services business formed in 2006, with a team of IT engineers. The site places the business in Malé.

Cameras, networks, door phones and access

Its CCTV systems let you watch footage on a smartphone, tablet or monitor, and send alerts when a camera's motion sensor is triggered. A job log going back to 2012

Its Projects page logs completed jobs from August 2012, when it fitted a video door phone, access control and surveillance system. Building projects in the log combine fibre network design, video door phones, lift access control, boom barriers and surveillance. A boom barrier is the lifting arm at a car park gate.

Other entries cover ethernet and fibre cabling with CCTV and an IP PABX phone system, a CCTV and alarm job, CCTV for a museum, and CCTV at a site in Hulhumalé (Hulhumale).

The online store

E-Talk runs an online store with categories for CCTV, networking, access control, home security systems, smart security, and telephones and PABX systems. Brands in the store include Hikvision, Dahua, Ubiquiti, TP-Link, MikroTik, Ezviz, Imou, Tapo, ZKTeco and Yealink. Featured items on the home page include a UniFi Wi-Fi access point, a Wi-Fi smart door lock and a Hikvision video door phone with face recognition.

Warranty, payment and hours

Its About page describes a twelve-month warranty on items E-Talk integrates, and a six-month warranty on items it did not integrate. The same page mentions in-house financing and leasing options. Its contact page lists morning, afternoon and evening opening sessions from Sunday to Thursday and on Saturday. You can reach it by phone, mobile, Viber or email.

Checklist for a CCTV or home network job

CCTV installation and maintenance comes first in its service list. The checklist is general guidance for any security or network job, not a statement about E-Talk. For CCTV, settle how many cameras go where, whether they see at night, how many days of recordings are kept, how you view them on your phone, and who holds the admin password.

E-Talk sells equipment through its store as well as fitting it. If you buy a camera, router or smart lock from any seller, ask whether they will configure it for you, and what happens if it needs a warranty repair.

Home networks, wired or wireless, are part of its networking service. In a flat, decide which rooms get a cable and which rely on Wi-Fi, and ask where each access point will be mounted for even coverage.
