Repairs or new furniture: what to ask

PinkBazaar files Artisan under the Carpenter category. Here is some general guidance for anyone hiring a carpenter. For a repair, ask whether the damaged part can be fixed or must be remade, and how new wood will be matched to the old colour. For new work, ask to approve a drawing with sizes first. Ask whether hinges, locks or handles you already own can be reused. Ask whether a repair is done at home or in the workshop, and how the piece will be moved.
