Smart Design

Interior design with its own furniture line

Smart Design Pvt. Ltd. pairs interior design with custom-made furniture, and its projects page shows an office it designed for Beond in Malé. Its home page describes interior and product design services, and the website footer calls it a SIMDI Group company. Its About page says it takes on new houses and commercial buildings, as well as refurbishing existing premises.

From design and procurement to building work

Its home page lists interior design, custom-made furniture, renovations, civil construction, and architectural and structural designs. The same list adds event management and decorations, graphic design, technical consultations and furniture for instant purchase.

Its Services page groups the work under space design, custom-made furniture, construction, project management and procurement. Procurement means finding and buying the materials and fittings a job needs.

A package for homes

Its Residential Services page offers a complete home package, from design to construction, starting with space planning and material selection. For home interiors, it lists colour, furniture and accessories selection, lighting design and project management.

Under custom fabrication, the page names staircases, railings, gates, fences, cabinets and bookshelves, made in wood, metal or glass. Its complete-solution line serves people building a new home or renovating one, with interior design, construction, remodelling and project management. Remodelling changes how a room is laid out, while renovation repairs or updates what is already there.

Projects, listings and first contact

Beside the Beond office, its projects page shows an apartment interior in Malé. Its Local.mv listing, published in December 2019, carries the line 'design and interior construction' and files it under interior designers and architects. Its Maldives YP listing, registered in December 2022, adds carpenter to categories that include interior design and architectural services.

Its home page invites enquiries to set up a first meeting, by contact form, phone or email. Its office is in Malé.

What to ask before the design is fixed

Space planning and material selection open its home package. These pointers are general guidance for any interior job, not claims about Smart Design. Before work starts, ask which drawings or 3D views you will see, and how many rounds of changes the design includes.

Its fabrication list includes cabinets and staircases in wood, metal or glass. For built-in pieces, ask for a drawing with sizes, the board or metal named in writing, and the finish on each surface.

Procurement is one of the services it names. Ask for an itemised quote, with materials, fittings and labour on separate lines, so you can see what the firm buys and what you buy yourself.

Its residential page covers renovation and construction as well as design. In a flat, check whether your building's management must approve the work and its hours. Agree who protects the lift and corridor, and who takes the waste away.

Project management appears in each of its home packages. Tie each payment to a finished stage that you have signed off, and name one person on site as your contact.
