Eco Cool

Reefside's air-conditioning arm

Eco Cool Pvt Ltd is the air-conditioning subsidiary of Reefside, the Malé watch and electronics retailer, says the AC service page on Reefside's website. The page says Eco Cool entered the aircon business in 2013. It names Eco Cool as the authorised sales and service partner for AIWA cooling products.

From a single unit to a building contract

Its listed services include AC installation for homes and commercial buildings. It also offers annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for buildings, a yearly plan of set service visits. Maintenance, service and support, plus AC parts and components, complete the list, and the page describes a team for servicing and maintenance. Its Local.mv listing sums up the business as air-conditioning and refrigeration services and products. For a new installation, two general points worth settling: where the outdoor unit will sit and how the team reaches it, and whether the unit gets its own breaker from the board.

Where it works

Eco Cool serves Malé, Hulhumalé and Villimalé, the page says, as well as resorts, hotels and commercial buildings outside Malé.

The Reefside group behind it

Reefside itself dates from 1976, when its first Malé shop opened, according to its About page. Reefside's online shop menu lists AC units alongside TVs, audio, washing machines and refrigerators. The same menu gives Eco Cool's air-conditioner service its own page, next to Reefside's watch care centre and electronics service centre.

Booking, and points for contracts

Reefside's website, home to Eco Cool's service page, has a Contact Us page. The questions below are general guidance for AC service and contracts. For an annual contract, get the visit count and the checklist for each visit in writing. Ask how a breakdown between visits is billed, and whether parts sit inside the contract. For a unit under the maker's warranty, keep the receipt and ask whether routine servicing keeps the cover valid. For a guest house or office with many units, ask for each unit as its own line on the quote.
